I passed through Croatia twice in May 2005. It seemed mid-way in development in the Balkans. It seemed a little poorer than Slovenia, but richer than Bosnia. The atmosphere was nice and I would like to go back some day.

Guard station, there were a lot of these along the rails in the Balkans, I think they were flagging that the rails were working, perhaps that isn’t automated. Many of them were armed as well though.
