I visited Kuwait for a weekend in March 2008. It was a nice trip hitchhiking up there from my home in Saudi Arabia. I got a diverse group of rides. The sandstorm that was underway made it a bit dramatic as well. Kuwait mostly reminded me of Bahrain. It is clearly a desert Gulf country but more laid back than Saudi Arabia. Women have a lot more freedoms. They can drive and appear alone in public. Also Kuwait is a constitutional monarchy, with a parliament elected by universal suffrage. Kuwait also reminded me of Bahrain in the feverish level of building going on.
