Lebanon is a country I've wanted to visit for as long as I can remember. When I was living in the Middle East I didn't quite make it there, but while on an overland trip from Egypt to Bulgaria I did manage to stop off in Beirut for a couple days. I even spent Christmas 2008 there. Its a nice country. For the Middle East it feels like a very European place. Its rich and developed. You can see the scars of war though. Lots of nice new buildings and then one full of holes. Lots of police all over the place. One of the oddest for me was the advertisements for guns. It's a very commercial place and there are so many shops and billboards. And some of them are advertising the sale of guns. I didn't have enough time there and I'd like to go back.
