My interest in license plates is another one that has me stumped. I'm not sure really where it came from. When I was younger I loved to see plates from different parts of the country. Especially on a mainland road trip I took with my family when I was 12. Non-Hawaiian plates aren't so common on the Big Island. At least they weren't, there are sadly more and more mainlanders moving there. I didn't start photographing plates in earnest until I was in South Africa. So that is the country that is best represented here. The photos of the plates were not always taken in the state, country, or province of origin. So for example I didn't take any pictures of plates in Canada, but I took some in Alaska and so those provinces are represented here.
