I was in Taiwan for several days. I thought I had to hurry to catch a ferry. I missed a ferry to Japan once, and almost again. So I crossed the island three times in only a few days. Besides this rush I thought it was wonderful. The food was good, the people nice. I found some tofu snacks I'd been looking out for everywhere in Asia that I used to eat in Montreal. I was in Taiwan in October 2006.

17-Layer Ivory Ball (Ching Dynasty: 1616-1911 A.D.). This was the most amazing piece to me in the museum. The ball is carved from a single piece of ivory, there are at least seventeen layers. I can't imagine the time it took to make this. October 2006. |

Leaving Kaohsiung again, I first went to Kaohsiung to catch a ferry. Unfortunately they wouldn't let me get on it. So I went back north to catch the next one at Keelung, they didn't tell me of course that it was coming back to Kaohsiung before going on to Japan! The second time I was in Kaohsiung I just stayed on the boat though. October 2006. |
