Alaska was my home for about two years all together. I first moved to Fairbanks in Sept. 2000 to do an university exchange. It ended up being the first of many. I stayed in Alaska until Dec. 2001 then returned after a year abroad in Jan. 2003. In May of 2003 I got my B.A. in political science from U.A.F.
Ok, and below was a journal I started but that never went anywhere.
The life of a troll
2003.02.09
Perhaps I will first describe to you, my friends and family of my lovely abode. The room in which I sleep is long and narrow. So there is if one looks at it in terms of square metres a decent amount of space. It is on consideration of the vertical that my flat runs into problems. It is the attic of a cabin, a peaked roof cabin. Unfortunately the pinnacle of the ceiling is only about 150 cm from the floor. This means that with my height of 193 cm there is no standing up. I think that I sometimes am a bit quick in choosing my room. While its not the worst place I've lived it is not one I will overly miss, so that my friends is what makes me feel a bit like a troll under a bridge. Thankfully the bathroom downstairs is of normal height. Since I don't have access to the primary kitchen of the cabin I must wash my dishes in the tub. As you react with distaste, I should say I am careful to be hygienic as I can under the circumstances. All cooking is done in a microwave that my old friend Willa was kind enough to give me. There are nice things about the ogre's den I inhabit. There is electricity, water, and heat, and the rent is low by local standards.
My contact info until the middle of May is:
